The Paymaster General also updated Parliament with a statement.  He confirmed that the regulations to establish the Compensation Scheme will be made by 24 August.  In October applications will open for interim payments to the estates of deceased people whose deaths have not yet been recognised.  He also said that the Government will update Parliament by the end of the year on progress in responding to the Inquiry’s recommendations.  You can read the text of his statement and the debate that followed here, or watch it online.

We have received some queries about the interim compensation payments currently available. These payments are administered by the infected blood support schemes and you can find their contact details here.

The British Red Cross confidential support service continues to be available.  You can contact the team directly on 0800 458 9473 or 0203 417 0280.  There is more information about the confidential support service here.
