Sir Brian Langstaff calls for action to help patients access medical records

Letters to the heads of national health services in the UK to help those seeking to access their medical records as part of the Inquiry

Sir Brian Langstaff, the Chair of the Infected Blood Inquiry, has written to the four heads of the national health services in the UK following reports from people participating in the Inquiry that they have experienced delays when requesting their medical records.

He has asked all of them to take action to reduce delays so that people infected and affected who want to access their medical records as part of giving evidence to the Inquiry are able to do so.

Writing to the chief executives of the NHS in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, Sir Brian highlighted the stress that struggling to access records can place on those who are otherwise be ready to give witness statements to the Inquiry.
